In mid 1979, when I was just 15 years old, I asked my dad to help me purchase my first car. I wanted to learn how to drive in my own car and I had been saving up money from my paper route and from working at McDonald's. One weekend out we went in my dad's white 65 Falcon 2 door sedan to see a car he thought might be a good purchase for me. When we arrived at the little house somewhere in East Vancouver, a strange bearded man pointed us toward the garage and said he'd meet us there in a few minutes. As we entered the garage we turned the lights on a Prairie Bronze 1965 Falcon four door sedan. I wasn't crazy about it being a four door (it wasn't cool) but the body and interior were in excellent shape. The owner then entered the garage and said "the other half of the engine is in the trunk". I said "huh?". Sure enough only the short block was under the hood.

All the other parts and peripherals were in the trunk. My dad convinced me that it would be a good learning experience if we reassembled it together and that it would be a good car. After some negotiation, the car was mine for $200. Dad and I reassembled it together but then it would not start. We had it towed to my high school auto class where the distributor installation was corrected and soon enough that baby started up. It was a great car and I have fond memories of it to this day.

Years later in 1993 (and many cars later), I wanted to rekindle my love for the

Falcon. I wanted a car I could pamper and enjoy the rest of my life. After some

research I decided I wanted the top of the line, which to me was a 1964 Falcon

Sprint convertible. I began to check the Buy and Sell hoping to find my car. Instead what I found was an advertisement for a Falcon, Fairlane, Comet Picnic In The Park. My God! Heaven! Falcons and other great cars displayed by other car lovers. It was a feast for the eyes and made me want my car all the more. I ended up joining the CFFCC even though I did not have a car. Everyone was so friendly and they were all made aware at the first meeting that I attended what I

was after. By early spring of 1994 I had my car, a white 1964 Falcon Sprint

convertible with red interior and just over 71,000 original miles. Excellent body

and frame was a must. I paid more than I should have, but I love it. It is due for a proper restoration which is waiting only for the garage to be ready, the time and, of course, the money. Thanks to everyone for such a great car club of which I am proud to be a devoted member.
