Year 1965 Make Ford Model Falcon Futura Body style 2 Door Post Colour Green Engine see story Transmission 3 speed automatic Production 11,670
I've been a Falcon fan since I was seven years old, when my big brother brought home his brand new '68 Futura from Dave Buck's in North Vancouver. It was with him and that car that I was introduced to drag racing at the old Mission Raceway. Twenty years later that car was finally mine. Thus began my passion with these little cars. Pictured is my second Falcon, a 1965 Futura two-door post. This car was originally a California vehicle and I was fortunate enough to be it's third owner. I paid $2200 for it in 1991. Originally it was equipped with a 289-2v, a c-4 automatic, and power steering. It had the GT rims but no hubcaps. I parked the car in 1993, why?, I have no idea. Finally the lights came back on in late '98 when I decided it was time to resurrect this gem. I wanted to go fast but look stock. I was able to combine a 5.01 short block with 302 crank and rods, topped off with early 351w heads with screw in studs and roller rockers. Induction is provided by a Holley 600 vacuum secondary on top of a Edelbrock "289 Performer" intake. I kept the stock exhaust manifolds adding dual exhaust. Ignition was upgraded to electronic and the brakes to dual master cylinder. Final drive is a rare 8" posi-unit with 3:00-1 gears. Thanks to Johnny "Cleveland" M., my baby shoe-box runs like a top and cruises effortlessly at 80mph. One look under the hood gives the impression that this is just another sanitary little stocker. Just the way I wanted it! The future for this car includes detailing the interior to stock trim, and repairing the minor body flaws, finishing off with a nice fresh coat of deep forest green paint. Oh yeah, Baby!! I became a member of the L.M.F.F.C.O.A. (ed. now the CFFCC) in 1988. It was just the L.M.F.O.A. in "those" days. I've had a great time with my fellow members at the shows and events that time and work have allowed me to participate in. Thanks to John M., Ray and Colleen B., and so many other of the club members for making this passion of mine a fun and rewarding one.
