I bought my first muscle car at Dave Buck Ford in North Vancouver when I was 21 in 1967. It was a 67 Ford Mustang GTA convertible with the S code 390 cid 4 bbl V-8 engine. Many gallons of gas later and now with a house and a wife, I traded it in to Capilano Volkswagen for a new 1971 Super Beetle. I got $800 for the Mustang. What a fool!!

Then in 1994 my cousin who was in his 70's passed away and I was given his 68 Ford Fairlane 500. They were going to give it to a  scrap dealer, but I was there first. To my surprise, the car when washed and cleaned up looked pretty good.

It has 49,000 original miles and just needed a really good cleaning and engine detailing. My cousin lived alone so no one ever sat in the back seat. It's a good cruiser and I was able to get Collector plates for it. Maybe this summer Al S. and I could get together and compare notes on our 68 Fairlanes.

I enjoy the Club and look forward to the Club Newsletters.
